Some bad news: I’m winding down my weekly 3 Simple Things email, for now. And I’ll be writing here less frequently going forward.
But the good news: It’s for a really great reason.
In July, I’ll officially become the new Executive Director of the Queens Economic Development Corporation.
Since 1977, QEDC has been in the business of growing and supporting the economy in Queens – the most diverse and exciting borough of New York City. Through small business and entrepreneur support, tourism and investment promotion, neighborhood development programs, and more initiatives, this organization is one of the most potent forces for good in what is effectively America’s 4th largest city.
I’m very excited to take on this role and work with the incredible team at QEDC, and over the next few weeks, my focus will increasingly be on gearing up for this job. To that end, I’ll naturally be scaling back my updates here.
If you’ve been following along for a while, you’ll know that I’ve written a bunch about New York City over the years, and I’ll certainly still be doing that in this new role. And given the marketing and entrepreneurship aspects of QEDC’s mission, you’ll likely still hear from me on those topics from time to time.
With my email, I’ll still send updates out now and then – but for the time being, I’m putting the weekly newsletters on ice.
Thanks for reading this, and thanks for being with me here. My newsletter went out every Tuesday for more than two years, and I’ve published over 170 posts on here – so there are lots of things in the archives if you want to read more. Or, of course, you can go get my book and read that, too.
Follow along with me on LinkedIn if you’d like. Otherwise, thanks once again, and speak soon.
PS: Check out this recent story about QEDC's incredible Witness to Mass Incarceration reentry program. And if you're local, grab a ticket to the org's "Queens Taste" fundraiser, one of the most delicious nights of the year.
